How to Use Your Cleanmatic Self-Wringing Mop
How to use
This is how to use a self-wringing mop like the Cleanmatic: push the flat mop into the bucket, pull it back through the double scrapers, and the microfibre pad comes out damp without your hands touching the water.
1
Before the first use
- Rinse the cloth in warm water. Microfibre picks up more once the fibres have been wet.
- Fit the cloth to the mop head and check it is sitting flat and even.
2
Getting set up
- Sweep or vacuum first. Mopping over loose grit just drags it across the floor.
- Fill the bucket with warm water. Warm lifts more than cold, and boiling is not needed.
- If you are using a floor cleaner, add it at the dose on its own label.
3
Mopping
- Dip the cloth, then wring it out in the bucket until it is damp rather than dripping.
- Start at the far corner of the room and work backwards towards the door, so you are not walking over what you have just done.
- Move in overlapping S-shapes instead of pushing back and forth along the same line. The swivel head follows the turns.
- Rinse and wring again whenever the cloth stops gliding easily.
- Change the water once it looks dirty. Dirty water puts dirt back down.
4
Edges, corners and stubborn marks
- Turn the head on its side to run along skirting boards and into corners.
- For a dried-on spot, rest the damp cloth over it for a minute before working at it.
5
Finishing up
- Empty and rinse the bucket.
- Take the cloth off to wash it, or rinse it out and hang it to dry.
- Let everything dry before it goes back in the cupboard.
